As a resident in Chongqing since five years, I am still amazed by the continuing speed of development.
A few corrections though:
Chongqing is not in the heart of Sechuan: since March 1997 it is an autonomous Municipality directly under the Central Government in Beijing and it covers approx. 82.400 square Km, or 31.800 square miles (just less than twice the size of New Jersey or twice the sized of The Netherlands) and has approx. 33 million inhabitants.
