I do not care if China infringes on patents in the world market. Our government should protect US patents in the US market. It is what I call the faddy item law.

If moneymorning wants information about the faddy item law, they have my e-mail address.

Looks like China was successful. We are biting off on the story that China is putting a stop to copyright and patent infringement with a measley $3MM court settlement. We have a long way to go. And Ruth Bishop, how about some examples?

Maybe...but to think the US doesn't do the same thing is naive. Look at our history...

This article is wishful thinking on the part of the author. The Chinese, as in many authoritative countries that want to maximize their advancement, use intellectual property theft and copyright infringement as cheap "leapfrogging" rather than expend their own resources on internal R&D. This applies to both commercial products and military hardware.

It looks like an odd case. We can not believe that China is sincere in protecting the Intellectual Property Rights. China is abound with such IPR infringements and its growth was partly due to infringements and breaking many international rules. Whole world was watching as it did not know how to deal with an iron curtain country sealed tightly with some ambiquous laws and difficult language barriers. We have to see this case is a fluke and such judgements will follow.
