The takeover of Sun &quot;has not not gone as smoothly as planned&quot; can be seen as a sign that the Oracle/Sun combination will be a potent one and competitors are worried.

Sun has first class support for (Open)Solaris across all of it&#039;s hardware range while IBM/HP flip-flop between Linux and their respective closed-source UNIX. With the expectation that the Oracle marketing machine will be seriously pushing the Solaris platform, it&#039;s expected that IBM/HP/etc. would be worried.</description>
