I couldnt agree more! Bank fees are WAY out of hand! Especially for those of us who cant afford it!
I am a single woman on a fixed income and I also have a learning disability-- it makes it that much more of a challenge to balance-- so the overdrafts REALLY hurt me... and it makes me sick to know i have a rent check due and my account is overdrafted -- the overdrafts build up if you were down to your last 35 dollars, it was taken by a fee and you have new checks coming through that would have been covered if you handnt erred or had such high odraft fees!
I am so glad they are finally looking into regulation on this--- my bank charges over 33 dollars in overdraft fees and it hurts...

I agree that something should be done. My bank raised our fee from $23 to $29 last year plus we have to pay $5 per day until we can make it even. It can really add up.

I certainly agree that these fees are outrageous and costly to consumers. Recently I was charged an overdraft fee from Wells Fargo on money that was deposited a few days earlier buy was held for 5 days by the bank. Then on top of that, a few days later I get my bank statement and find out they charged me interest on the overdraft too. This was on money that was there in my account but was held for 5 days to clear. I just think this practice should be stopped and consumers should be allowed to say no to transactions if they choose. Banks should bot be allowed to nickel and dime their customers to make up for bad loans and aggressive trades they caused for themselves.
