On June 16, we challenged Money Morning readers to predict the value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average at its close on June 30 of this year.
We received more than 3,500 contest entries, and we're glad to say that we have a winner.
One contestant, who we cannot yet name publicly, claimed the top prize with an approximation of 12,414.27. The Dow's actual June 30 close was 12,414.34, which means our winner was a mere 0.07 points off.
In his email entry, our champion said: "I believe the market will go up a little then down. It is not a pretty picture for the future with the debt ceiling rising."
We at Money Morning greatly appreciate the level of participation we received from our loyal readers. That's why we chose a second winner at random. That person has already been contacted and will soon receive their iPad 2.
Of course, if you failed to win this time around, don't be discouraged. We're contemplating another contest for the close of the third quarter at the end of September.
