Stock market today, April 1, 2014: The markets jumped again on Tuesday after car manufacturers reported stronger than expected sales in March. The auto industry's big month may be attributed to higher demand in March, after the weather hampered sales in January and February.

At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 74.95 points to finish at 16,532.61. The Nasdaq increased 69.05 points finish at 4,268.04, while the S&P 500 hit a new record today before settling at 1,885.52.

What the Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Stock Split Means for Investors

The Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) stock split happens tomorrow (Wednesday, April 2), meaning Google shareholders of record as of March 27 will own two shares tomorrow for every share they own today.

Following the split, Google will have twice as many shares outstanding than it currently does. Google's "Class A" shares will trade under the ticker GOOGL, while the company's "Class C" shares will remain on the company's current ticker GOOG.

GrubHub IPO: Mobile Market Key to GrubHub's Success

Investors can add another deal to the 2014 IPO calendar, with the GrubHub IPO expected to take place on Thursday, April 3.

Today, Grubhub officials announced that they have upped the price range on Grubhub stock to $23 to $25, from a previous range of $20 to $22.

Last week, GrubHub officials announced that they plan to raise approximately $155 million in an initial public offering by selling 7.03 million shares.

Now that the GrubHub IPO financial info has been released, investors are investigating the company.
