Tech's "Virtuous Cycle" Trend Will Give Us Profits for Years

My wife Robin is a financial advisor and a CPA.

She also possesses one of the sharpest minds I've ever seen.

That's probably why she has such an affinity for jigsaw puzzles. Back in upstate New York, when we were both attending business school together at night, there was nothing she liked more to "decompress" during the lull between the semesters than to do a jigsaw puzzle.

And the greater the number of pieces – and the more complex the puzzle – the more she liked it.

Truth be told, I view the investing process in much the same way that my wife looks at jigsaw puzzles.

There's something really gratifying about taking hundreds of disparate "pieces" – in this case, the reams of financial, economic, and political data that's available at any given time – and shrewdly assembling them into a "picture" that makes sense or conveys beauty.

Or that points the way to untold wealth...

The Early Read on 2015 Markets

For the first time since 2008, stocks traded down on the last trading day of the year and the first trading day of the New Year.

Whether this will prove to be a mere statistical curiosity or a harbinger of troubles ahead remains to be seen, but there are enough headwinds facing investors to force them to don foul weather gear for the year ahead.

Markets are likely to see heavy seas in 2015 as the Fed starts raising interest rates and oil prices stay lower for longer than anybody expects...

The Perfect "Anti-Trend" Play

The really great thing about following our "Unstoppable Global Trends" is that there are many ways to invest in each of them. The possibilities are endless, as is the profit potential.

Take Demographics, for example.

We've talked a lot about what's happening in Japan right now in Total Wealth and the conditions there that make it the perfect "Anti-Trend" investment. Between the crushing debt, the aging population, the lack of a workable immigration policy, and decades of abysmal fiscal policy working against it, the country is in trouble – thus my recommendation to short the currency.

The play has returned more than 116% since the Japanese yen was at 76 to the dollar when I initially recommended it to paid subscribers. And it's returned another 5% since November 26 when I brought it to Total Wealth readers' attention. Now it's set for another leg up.

But it's far from the only way to play Japan at the moment...

Silver Prices This Year Fell 20% - Here's Why

Silver prices this year fell 20%, making 2014 the second straight year of declines for the white metal.

After closing 2013 at $19.565 an ounce, the spot silver price bounced between $18.50 and $22 for most of the year. Then it crashed through key support levels in September. Silver prices then began a descent to four-year lows.

Here's exactly why silver prices finished 2014 at $15.685, and a look at where they're headed in 2015...

Profit from Greece and the European Union Struggles in 2015

Yet another Greek tragedy is playing out in economically distressed southern Europe.

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras failed to win support for his presidential candidate.

So citizens will head to the polls again, this time 18 months ahead of schedule.

With the "extreme left" party currently in the lead, there's more than political posturing at stake.

Volatility is sure to rise, and the pressure on ECB President Mario Draghi to "do something" will grow stronger than ever.

It feels like "déjà-vu all over again" as Europe continues to try and find ways to remain unified.

While the squabbling continues, we've found the best way of creating investment opportunities...

The Consumer Electronics Show Will Ignite These Three Profit Plays

With 2 million square feet of exhibit space, 161,000 attendees and 20,000 product announcements, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the one of the hottest trade shows on Earth.

But the impact goes well beyond the numbers.

CES is also the single best place to gauge the state of Silicon Valley innovation.

And the 2015 edition of CES, scheduled for Jan. 6 to Jan. 9 in Las Vegas, will highlight some of the key tech trends we've been telling you a lot about over the past several years.

And the watchword will be "connectivity," says Accenture Managing Director John Curran, who runs the consulting firm's Communications, Media and Technology Group.

"The range of high-tech devices is exploding, and so is the amount of connectivity and networking between them," Curran wrote in a recent issue of Forbes magazine. "All this will be evident at CES like never before. We expect to see the 'always connected' consumer become more pervasive than ever as connected devices and services become the norm in new, emerging and traditional product categories."

According to Curran and other experts, the key tech topics at CES 2015 will include:

  • The "Internet of Everything," or IoE.
  • The "connected car."
  • And so-called "4K" TVs.

We've been talking with you about all three of these.

And the fact that they're going to be major points of focus at CES means they've emerged as major profit opportunities – and are worth revisiting again.

So let's take a look.
