Chris Christie Net Worth: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie doesn't consider himself wealthy. Rather, he considers himself "not wealthy" by "current standards"...
"I don't consider myself a wealthy man," Christie told NJ.com on April 18. "Listen, wealth is defined in a whole bunch of different ways and in the end, Mary Pat and I have worked really hard, we have done well over the course of our lives, but, you know, we have four children to raise and a lot of things to do."
Despite Christie's wealth-is-subjective claim, there are indeed benchmarks that measure affluence. For instance, on his 2013 tax return, he and his wife Mary Pat reported $699,000 in combined income. According to the Economic Policy Institute, having a combined income of $385,000 or more annually puts you in the national 1%. However, New Jersey's state average household income is slightly higher than most others ($71,000 median), meaning that in order to qualify for the "Jersey 1% Club," you'd need to make about $539,000 a year - which Christie does.
In total, Christie and his family have an estimated net worth of about $4 million, according to an April 20 article from The Washington Post. That's certainly not "un-rich"...
