The Apple Stock Price Predictions Wall Street Wants You to Forget

Lately Wall Street has been pumping up its Apple stock price predictions.

But investors need to be very careful what they read into this trend. You see, Wall Street has an alarming record of failure when it comes to its Apple stock price predictions.

It seems that when Apple stock is about to move up, they're dropping their price targets. And when AAPL stock is about to fall, they're raising them.

To look at it, you'd almost think they were doing it on purpose...

The Calm Before The Storm; FOMC Meeting On Deck

(Kitco News) – Global stock markets were mostly firmer overnight. Corporate earnings reports are presently garnering attention of equities traders. Reports said the Volatility Index (VIX) has dropped to its lowest level in a decade early this week.

In technical jargon, this is called a collapse in volatility, which precedes bigger price moves forthcoming. In layman's terms it's called the calm before the storm. U.S. stock indexes are pointed toward narrowly mixed openings when the New York day session begins.

Gold prices are slightly higher in pre-U.S. market trading.

Here's What the Market Needs to Break Higher

As I expected, the markets took us through two very typical responses last week…

First, we had a relief rally after the French presidential vote generated a positive surprise.

Then we caught a classic "sell the news" response to the Trump tax plan.

The French presidential election is still a big deal because of its implication for the continued health of the European Union (EU).

As we discussed last week, had the two anti-EU candidates won, the markets would have had a severe sell-off.

I recommended we refrain from trying to "handicap" the result ahead of time – a potentially costly move – and take a position once the result became clear.

That was absolutely the right way to play it.

Now, I mention this not to look backwards or gloat, but because the confluence of circumstances has contributed to a technical setup I'm looking at that's going to continue to influence the opportunities ahead.

There will be a way to play what's coming next, too...
