Dow Jones Today Pushes into Positive Territory After Apple Smashes Earnings

Pre-market trading in the Dow Jones today indicated slight gains after Apple Inc. rose 3.4% on better than anticipated earnings last Tuesday.

The tech giant reported an EPS of $2.73 per share, a figure that beat expectations by four cents.

Revenue of $61.18 billion also beat expectations. Because Apple is the largest stock in the economy based on market capitalization, Apple's stellar returns should provide a significant boost to markets today.

Fighting Over Debt, Bulls and Bears Are Both Missing the Big, Profitable Point

Wars, famine, recession, expansion, earnings beats, earnings misses, rising interest rates, falling interest rates, and, if you're so inclined, lunar cycles. These are just a few of the anxiety-inducing topics that can be worked into any conversation about the stock market.

Arguably the "coolest" worrisome topic of the moment is debt.

Byron Wiens, a market prognosticator and strategist who now hangs his hat at private equity giant Blackstone, pointed out recently that total U.S. government debt is now some $20 trillion.

Then there's margin debt, which is always a gas to talk about. Total margin debts for customers are near record levels. That's surely a sign of speculative excess indicating customers are way too bullish.

However, in some contexts, those debt levels are hardly worth shaking a stick at. It's just 2.2% of the total market cap of all stocks, which is still below the excess levels of 2007.

Of course, the mere mention of debt levels being "near all-time highs" makes for a very scary story about stocks.

This list of worries goes on and on, with each one more fearmongering than the last.

But there's an easy way to beat the fear-filled bears and zany, hype-driven bulls that dominate the mainstream media.

It's a simple piece of advice that's allowed me and my readers to secure triple-digit winners time and time again.

And I'm going to share it with you today...

For Apple Q2 Earnings, Ignore the Noise and Focus on This

The arrival of Apple Q2 earnings can only mean one thing: The financial media and analysts are convinced the sky is falling.

In recent weeks, we've seen a string of stories agonizing over slowdowns in the Apple supply chain, as well as sluggish iPhone sale in China. Surely, Apple is doomed, right?

The trouble is, we've seen this play before. And in almost every case, concerns were overblown. Investors are better off ignoring these reports.

What's Next for the Price of Silver After Another Volatile Week

The price of silver experienced another volatile week, along with the broader markets. Silver prices officially closed the month of April at $16.31, below the $16.50 level, where it started the month.

A fresh rally in the U.S. dollar was the most obvious culprit, as the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) managed to power higher by some 120 basis points from its early bottom.

But a look at technical indicators shows a rally may be coming shortly...
