Alphabet's AI Chip Triumph Is Fueling a Big Stock Rally[Stocks](https://moneymorning.com/category/article/stocks/) # Alphabet's AI Chip Triumph Is Fueling a Big Stock Rally by Rich Duprey November 26, 2025 Share it: ## Alphabet Sets Sights on Nvidia, Stock Soars In a bold pivot that's reshaping the AI hardware landscape, **Alphabet** ( [GOOG](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/goog/), [GOOGL](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/googl/)) is making waves by positioning its custom Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) as a formidable challenger to **Nvidia**'s ( [NVDA](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/nvda/)) dominance. Shares are up over 13% in the past week – and are rising again in premarket trading this morning – after it announced a landmark deal to supply TPUs to **Meta Platforms** ( [META](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/meta/)), which was followed by a glowing analyst upgrade from a top Wall Street firm. This momentum underscores [Alphabet's deepening entrenchment](https://moneymorning.com/2025/03/10/dont-wait-these-2-dividend-tech-stocks-might-not-be-this-cheap-again/) in the generative AI boom, where its in-house silicon is proving both cost-effective and scalable for hyperscale clients. ## Nvidia in the Crosshairs At the core of the market's excitement is Alphabet's expanded partnership with Meta. Under the multi-year agreement, Meta will integrate Alphabet's latest Cloud TPU v5p pods into its sprawling data centers to power advanced AI workloads, including large language models and recommendation engines. This isn't just another cloud contract, it's a strategic snub to Nvidia's pricey GPUs, which have long been the gold standard but come with escalating costs amid rising demand and global chip shortages. Alphabet's TPUs – optimized for machine learning inference and training – promise up to 2.8 times the performance per watt compared to competitors, according to internal benchmarks. For Meta, which spent billions on AI infrastructure last year, this deal could slash operational expenses by 30% to 40% while accelerating projects like Llama 3, its open-source AI model. "Alphabet's TPU ecosystem is maturing at the perfect time," said **Wedbush** analyst Dan Ives in a note to clients. "This Meta win validates GOOG's ability to capture share from Nvidia without the same supply chain headaches." Ives isn't alone in his enthusiasm. Just hours before the stock's leap, **Bank of America Securities** reiterated its Buy rating on Alphabet with a $335 per share price target to $220 per share. A number of other Wall Street firms also weighed in, including **Loop Capital**, which raised its rating from Hold to Strong Buy, and **BNP Paribas Exane**, which initiated coverage with an Outperform rating. ## A Turboboost to Revenue The ripples extend beyond partnerships. Alphabet's aggressive AI push is bolstering its core search business, where AI Overviews – a feature injecting generative responses into search results – has boosted user engagement by 25% without eroding ad revenue. Meanwhile, YouTube's Shorts algorithm, powered by TPUs, continues to siphon ad dollars from TikTok. Investors are betting this trifecta – hardware innovation, cloud expansion, and ad resilience – will sustain double-digit earnings growth. Yet, challenges loom. While TPUs erode Nvidia's moat, they also invite fiercer competition from **Amazon**'s ( [AMZN](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/amzn/)) Trainium chips and **Microsoft'** s ( [MSFT](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/msft/)) Maia accelerators. For now, though, Alphabet's stock is riding high on AI tailwinds. With a reasonable forward P/E of 29, the setup looks primed for more upside. As Ives quipped, "GOOG isn't just playing catch-up; it's rewriting the rules." In an era where AI capex is projected to exceed $200 billion annually, Alphabet's TPU gambit with Meta could be the catalyst that cements its multi-trillion-dollar legacy. **Beat the market, without relying on brokers or biased institutions.** Email(Required) URL This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
