Anthropic Mauls CrowdStrike Again. Here's Why the Cybersecurity Stock Is a Buy[Featured](https://moneymorning.com/category/featured/) # Anthropic Mauls CrowdStrike Again. Here's Why the Cybersecurity Stock Is a Buy by Rich Duprey February 25, 2026 Share it: **Anthropic**’s launch of Claude Code Security – a new capability within its Claude AI model that autonomously scans codebases for vulnerabilities and suggests fixes – sent shockwaves through the cybersecurity sector. Released in limited preview on Feb. 20, the tool promises developers faster, AI-powered code reviews, raising fears that generative AI could soon automate core security functions. **CrowdStrike** ( [CRWD](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/crwd/)) shares plunged 17% over two trading days, dragging down peers like **Zscaler** ( [ZS](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/zs/)), **Datadog** ( [DDOG](https://moneymorning.com/stocks/ddog/)), and the broader **Global X Cybersecurity ETF** (BUG). Investors worried that AI-native tools would commoditize traditional endpoint detection and response platforms. Yet this selloff is not the beginning of the end for cybersecurity leaders. Instead, it represents a classic buying opportunity for savvy investors who understand that AI disruption in security is more hype than reality – at least for now. ## AI Panic Seeps Across the Software Sector The market’s panic is understandable on the surface. For months, software stocks have faced a “SaaS-pocalypse” as investors fret that large language models will replace expensive enterprise subscriptions with cheap, autonomous AI agents. Anthropic’s move fits the pattern: Claude Code Security can reportedly find hundreds of high-severity bugs in open-source repositories that human teams missed for years. Wall Street extrapolated quickly – if AI can scan and patch code at scale, why pay for specialized cybersecurity platforms? The result was a broad rotation out of the sector, with CRWD alone shedding billions in market value in 48 hours. But these fears are overblown. AI doesn’t eliminate the need for security; it dramatically expands the attack surface. As organizations race to deploy generative AI across endpoints, user identities, cloud workloads, and development pipelines, the volume and sophistication of threats explode. Every new AI agent, every LLM-integrated application, and every autonomous workflow introduces fresh vectors for prompt injection, model poisoning, data exfiltration, and supply-chain compromise. Traditional static code scanners or periodic audits simply cannot keep pace with runtime threats in live production environments. ## CrowdStrike's Difference CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform, by contrast, delivers continuous behavioral monitoring, AI-driven threat intelligence, and zero-trust enforcement at the endpoint and cloud levels. These capabilities become more – not less – critical as AI proliferates. Companies embedding Claude or similar models into their operations will still need runtime protection to stop polymorphic malware, detect anomalous agent behavior, and enforce least-privilege access across hybrid environments. AI may change the tools attackers and defenders use, but it makes strong, layered security architecture more essential than ever. History shows that each wave of technological innovation – from cloud migration to mobile adoption – ultimately increased demand for robust cybersecurity rather than diminishing it. ## Bottom Line We are witnessing the SaaS-pocalypse spread across the market with each flashy AI advance, yet not all software stocks are created equal. CrowdStrike isn’t selling commoditized code-scanning widgets; it protects the mission-critical infrastructure that makes AI deployment possible in the first place. As CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz wrote in an X post, “If you want to create AI, you need GPUs. If you want to deploy AI, you need security. That’s not a hallucination — it’s a fact.” The current selloff in CRWD stock is therefore a gift for patient investors who can see past scary headlines and recognize the massive long-term tailwinds still ahead for best-in-class cybersecurity platforms. **Beat the market, without relying on brokers or biased institutions.** Email(Required) Company This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
