Rubrik Beat the Lights Out. After Hours Still Argued.
Rubrik beat the quarter so hard the stock still had room to argue about it after the close.
During Thursday's regular session, Rubrik (RBRK) climbed about 11% as the cyber and software complex ripped. After the bell, the company reported adjusted earnings of about $0.20 a share against a Street number near $0.04. Revenue hit roughly $427 million, up about 38% year over year and clear of the $396 million consensus.
Then after-hours trading gave some of the party back. That is what happens when a name already ran hard into the report and expectations were loud.
The real engine is subscription ARR
Subscription ARR grew about 33% to $1.66 billion. Cloud ARR climbed about 39% to $1.48 billion. Net new subscription ARR was up roughly 35% year over year. Rubrik also swung to non-GAAP profitability with net income near $45 million versus a loss a year ago.
CEO Bipul Sinha framed the moment around AI agents and ransomware recovery. The company sells the unsexy truth of modern IT: if your data cannot come back clean and fast, the rest of your AI stack is a liability. That message is landing with enterprises that already got burned once.
Guidance went higher too
Management raised full-year revenue into the high $1.68 billion to $1.69 billion area and lifted free cash flow targets. October-quarter sales guidance also sat above prior Street numbers. On paper, the fundamentals did the job.
The tape after hours is a separate conversation about positioning. A stock that already jumped double digits into the release can sell a clean beat simply because the easy money already showed up. I care more about whether subscription ARR stays north of 30% after the AI-security narrative cools in the headlines.
Bottom line: Rubrik delivered a real beat and a higher guide, and the after-hours fade is a reminder that great numbers still trade against yesterday's price, not yesterday's doubt.
