Too many investors are missing this opportunity because they don't have a tool that will help them detect their status as a "breakout stock."
That's why I use the Money Morning Stock VQScore system. Our proprietary algorithm tracks thousands of profitable stocks and assigns each one a score.
The VQScore ranges between 1 and 4.9. The higher the score, the more likely the stock will breakout in the months ahead.
Here, I'm going to discuss a top defense stock that literally glues together our military structures.

Around the globe, economic fears are rising.
And the threat that stands out the most is China. Last week, China celebrated its 70th anniversary. A military parade showed off a hypersonic nuclear missile that can strike the heart of North America within 30 minutes.
The expected downturn in the market is an excellent time to think defensively.
You want to own stocks that can provide income and share price appreciation. You'll also want to tap into America's booming defense industry.

Like you and millions of other investors, I've been following the conflict in the Middle East closely; as the past week has shown, events there have the potential to impact multiple global market sectors.
And, not surprisingly, I've got a couple of important observations that could play a pivotal role in protecting your profits and your capital.
One of the most significant things, in my view, is what didn't happen: Markets didn't collapse. Not all that long ago, markets all over the world would've fallen through the floor the instant news of the attacks in Saudi Arabia broke. This time around, however, the markets displayed remarkable resilience. This strength is important to keep in mind.
Also important, though I'm sure you and I wish it weren't: There will be more attacks. The region is just too chaotic to count on peace breaking out.

Investors on Monday digested news of the massive drone attacks on Saudi Arabian oil infrastructure at Abqaiq and Khurais. Stocks took it pretty well, it has to be said; the Dow slid around 0.27% as an "oil shock" that would've sent indexes tumbling hundreds of points 10 or 20 years ago rippled through the broader markets.
Oil, on the other hand, is seeing virtually unprecedented volatility. Prices for crude have jumped by as much as $10 a barrel following the disruption of around half of Saudi Arabia's daily output. Prices then lurched lower yesterday when Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman suggested oil supply will be back online by the end of September.
As we'll see in a second, the ground reality is probably more complicated than that, and traders are still deeply conflicted about the big picture.

I was still in the air with my wife, traveling between Dubai and our home in Florida, when some of the world's most important oil production and processing facilities in Saudi Arabia were attacked by drones.
By the time we landed, the massive Saudi Aramco processing facility at Abqaiq and the Khurais oil fields were burning, around 7% of global daily crude production was falling offline, and global crude prices were spiking by double digits.
At home, before I even had a chance to unpack, I participated in a marathon series of overseas conference calls which have only just ended.
With the attack, claimed by Houthi rebels out of Yemen, the long-simmering Saudi-Iranian proxy war has reached a new, volatile boil.
Frankly, White House rhetoric notwithstanding, Saudi Arabia's next steps will largely determine when and where outright war breaks out.
I can say with certainty, however, that U.S. and Saudi government responses to the global oil market have missed the mark.
Here's what's really happening...

Most investors rightly focus on the long term, but on occasion, there are short-term opportunities that can be exploited.
Take the upcoming 2020 election, for example.
Investors around the world will be anxiously awaiting the outcome.
Of course, we're still 14 months away. And we've found an excellent profit opportunity to exploit in the run-up to the election.
I can already think of one sector that is going to run wild in advance of the election next year: defense.

Many people would do anything to have a crystal ball into the future.
You could see if you're going to get that dream job…
You could find out what your children will become when they grow up…
You could know where you'll be when you retire.
The possibilities are endless if you could see the future.
Many of my colleagues, if asked the question of what they would do if they could see the future, would say that they would like to look at the financial markets and pick the best trades to make them rich.
I'd say that's a popular choice.
But for me, if I had such a power, I would be looking at more than just the financial markets.
There are many factors involved in what makes a particular company a good trade, and much of it depends on geopolitics.
So, if I had a crystal ball, I would be looking at the geopolitical situation only a few months into the future.
On the other hand, with today's geopolitical tensions, I don't think I really need a crystal ball to tell me what's going to happen.
In fact, all I really need is a history textbook...
