Pre-market trading report, Feb. 25, 2014: The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped more than 100 points on Monday, inching closer to its intra-day record high of 16,588.20. The S&P 500 struck a new intra-day record of 1,858.71 while the Nasdaq ticked up 0.69% to 4,292.97. Gold prices retreated from a four-month high.

U.S. stocks welcomed a solid lift in Monday's trading session, with all three major indexes closing up. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained about 0.64%, or 104 points, to close at 16,207 points; the S&P 500 closed up 0.64%, or 12 points, at 1,848; and the Nasdaq closed up 0.69%, or 30 points, at 4,293 points.
Energy futures remained buoyant along with the stock market today, with the exception of natural gas, which finally plummeted 18% back to about $5.46 per million BTUs today after settling up 18% last week.

Today's stock market news, Feb. 24, 2014: The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 30 points on Friday to close at 16,103. The Nasdaq fell 0.1% to 4,263, while the S&P remained flat, falling 3 points to close at 1,836.
The world will continue to focus this week on continued unrest in Venezuela and Ukraine.

Stock market today, Feb. 18:U.S. stocks kicked off a shortened trading week predominantly in positive territory, with the Nasdaq making strides even as home builder confidence fell and manufacturing declined more than expected.
The Nasdaq closed up 0.68% at 4,273; the S&P 500 Index closed up 0.13% at 1,841 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.15% at 16,130.

Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM) stock fell more than 1% Thursday, following Wednesday's recall of every third-generation Prius the company has sold.
The recall covers 1.9 million vehicles worldwide, including 713,000 in North America. Reportedly, a programming glitch in the hybrid system prompted the recall. The malfunction could shut down the hybrid engine, forcing the vehicle to stop, even if it is being driven.

Today's stock market news, Feb. 14, 2014: The Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked back above 16,000 on Thursday as the market continues to shrug off weak economic data. Due to the snowstorm that battered the East Coast on Thursday, the scheduled meeting between Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen and the Senate Banking Committee has been postponed until later this month.

Today's stock market news, Feb. 12, 2014: The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared more than 192 points on Tuesday after new Fed chair Janet Yellen stressed that monetary policy is unlikely to change under her leadership. The Dow ticked above 16,000 for the first time since Jan. 24. The S&P rose 1.1% to close at 1,819.75 and the Nasdaq increased 1% to 4,191.04.
