One of the little-reported sidebars to the whole Russia/Ukraine/Crimea misadventure is the fact that Russia bolstered its nuclear weapons arsenal even as it negotiated a new arms-reduction deal with Washington.
In a new (and well worth reading) piece in Foreign Policy magazine, "It's Time to Stop Putin's Nuclear Arms Buildup," U.S. Sen. James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.) tells us how Russia has added two new missiles to its nuclear arsenal - at least one of which violates existing treaties. And new reports reveal Russia was developing those treaty-violators even as it was duplicitously pushing the Obama administration for the best possible deal on New START, a 2010 arms-reduction pact.
