As you folks know, I'm a big, big movie and television buff.
But between my frenetic schedule here - and the fact that I'm the father of a 10-year-old boy - I don't get much of a chance to watch regular TV shows anymore.
Hardly any, in fact.
One of the few I watch - call it a "guilty pleasure" - is the pseudo-reality show Street Outlaws. The show focuses on a bunch of "outlaw" street racers out in "The 405" area code in Oklahoma. I like the show because it reminds me of my own experiences (long, long ago) with drag racing and street racing. And it's stunning to watch how quick some of these cars actually are - and how fast they can go.
If you've ever watched any drag racing - or perhaps, like me, done some yourself - then you know that most of the races are won or lost right at the starting line. The driver who gets off the line first, has a hefty advantage.
In short, when it comes to drag racing, most of the time it's all about "the launch."
There's even an adage - a bit of drag-racing wisdom - that underscores this: "If you snooze, you lose."
And two of our favorite "Big Idea" profit plays for 2017 have started the New Year with one heck of a "launch."
Let me tell you all about it...
