When it comes to Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL), the gloom-and-doomers seem to fall into one of two camps.
Let's call one set the "Nostalgics" and the other the "Bookkeepers."
The Nostalgics fondly recall the days when Apple ruled the device market: The iPhone was the class of the smartphone market and the iPad pretty much had the tablet market all to itself. The Dreamers lament the market-share losses that have followed, and obsess about the yapping rivals that now nip at the iDevice-maker's heels in a market it once dominated.
