A few years back, market researcher International Data Corp. (IDC) stunned folks by predicting that the amount of digital data being created worldwide would zoom from 4.4 zettabytes in 2013 to 44 zettabytes by 2020.
The consensus reaction seemed to be... "These guys have to be wrong."
IDC was wrong - but not for the reason the naysayers expected.
The projection turned out to be low.
Now IDC believes that we're looking at 180 zettabytes - by 2025.
