I remember my first model airplane. It was a control-line airplane - a blue-and-yellow model of the Fairchild PT-19 trainers the U.S. Army Air Corps used during primary flight training - before the cadets soloed.
The model was powered by the venerable Cox .049 "Half-A" motor. And I sure hope the Air Corps cadets had a better time flying the real thing than I did flying that model. I crashed it every time I attempted to fly it and my Dad had no better luck.
