During a front-office career that spanned three decades, baseball executive Pat Gillick crafted a Hall of Fame career that brought World Series titles to the Toronto Blue Jays (1992 and '93) and the Philadelphia Phillies (2008).
Early in his career, while with the Blue Jays, he was shackled with the "Stand Pat" nickname because of a reputation for being unwilling - or unable - to pull the trigger on major deals.
