3/19/15: Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) is joining with Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) to install an upgraded version of Sync 3, an in-car software system, and also help to enhance the connected car services.
The upgraded version of Sync 3 will run on a cloud-based Azure platform, developed by Microsoft. The add-ons in this volume of Sync 3 will enable the automaker to notice how the owners of the vehicle use it and their driving habits. The data that is wirelessly collected will be further processed to detect any mechanical or technical problems in the car. The software will also notify the owner for any maintenance required for the car.
Ford stock was down about 0.73% to $16.34 on Thursday. Ford’s stock is up 5.42% this year.
