Gold and silver prices started 2015 strong. Silver began the year at $15.71, hitting $18.22 on Jan.22. The white metal is up a solid 10.23% year to date. The current price of silver seems bullish for the white metal, but it's been here before. Even as recently as the past couple months. A stronger dollar will keep it from breaking out significantly, but that doesn't take away from the merits that silver investing does provide – a hedge against what have become very uncertain markets. iShares Silver Trust (ETF) (NYSE Arca: SLV) seeks to reflect generally the performance of the price of silver. It currently trades around $16 and has a year-to date gain of 5.38%.
