The Dow Jones Industrial Average projected a triple-digit gain in premarket trading after Tuesday night's midterm elections granted control of the House of Representatives to the Democratic Party for the first time since 2011.

Propelled into the House majority by historic voter turnout, Democrats are expected to act as a significant check on Republican President Donald Trump's agenda for the remaining two years of his first term.

The Dow Jones today jumped 86-points in premarket trading while the S&P 500 sat just points away from an all-time record.

The rise was in spite of the imposition of "snapback" sanctions on Iran Tuesday morning.

The new sanctions target Iran's ability to purchase foreign currency and commodities.

They also place an embargo on the American import of Iranian pistachios and Persian rugs.

The Dow Jones today projected a 25-point decline in premarket hours following a report from the U.S. Commerce Department that announced Q2 GDP grew at a rate of 4.1%.

The 4.1% figure is the fastest quarterly growth since July 2014.

The Dow Jones today fell over 180 points in Wednesday's premarket trading as trade tension between the United States and China escalated once again.

This morning, President Donald Trump's administration has threatened new tariffs on roughly $200 billion in Chinese goods.

This announcement comes on the heels of the last Friday's imposition of $50 billion worth of tariffs on Chinese goods.

The Dow Jones News Today: The Dow Jones Futures projected a 35-point gain after Comcast Corporation has made an aggressive offer for the assets of 21st Century Fox.

The cable and internet giant has offered $35 per share, countering the offer recently made by Walt Disney Co.

The all-cash offer is a 19% premium to Disney's offer and brings Fox's valuation to $65 billion.

Shares of FOX gained nearly 1% in premarket hours.

The Dow Jones today added 38 points in premarket trading as investors awaited interest rate decisions from the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank.

Today, the Fed is expected to raise interest rates for the second time in 2018.

On Thursday, The ECB will announce whether it will continue to promote financial liquidity in European markets through quantitative easing.

The Dow Jones today opened little changed on Tuesday as markets processed Monday evening's summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Trump said that the two leaders "had a terrific day" and that they have signed an agreement to build their relations and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

While the objectives of the meeting remain unclear, the historic summit is likely to dictate the course of relations between the two countries for the foreseeable future.
