Capital Wave Forecast Editor Shah Gilani may be the one investment pro on earth who was actually heartened by the Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) plan to buy the Nokia Corp. (NYSE ADR: NOK) devices unit for $7.2 billion.

The plan - which some pundits are referring to as the "Labor Day Surprise," because it was unveiled on the Monday holiday - calls for Microsoft to buy Nokia's handset business and license its patents. And most experts are viewing it as a troublesome move because it combines two mobile-business laggards - Nokia in hardware and Microsoft in software.
