Markets Live Recap: Unemployment in Focus Today

This morning, United States weekly jobless claims came in at 4.4 million.

Just over 26 million Americans have now applied for unemployment… In the last 5 weeks.

That means the U.S. economy has wiped out all the job gains since the Great Recession.

But stocks turned over mid-day and closed about flat.

Here's what our experts - Chris Johnson, Tom Gentile, D.R. Barton, Jr., and Shah Gilani - saw in the financial markets today, April 23...

The Only REIT That Can Thrive Amid the Great Coronavirus Sell-Off of 2020

Things continue to go from bad to worse…

Even some of our favorite low-interest rate plays like real estate investment trusts (REITs) haven't been immune to the market panic.

Investors are taking remaining gains off the table and reallocating capital to cash reserves, bonds, and even gold.

3 Dividend Stocks to Buy After the Fed Slashed Rates

It's safe to say we're on our way to 0% interest rates.

And possibly negative ones after that.

Should the global economies come together to prevent a massive outbreak, lower rates would likely fuel a quick rebound of the equity markets as investors pile back into equities and push us back to new records.

That's just how cheap money and asset prices have worked over the last decade.

However, even if this process is more prolonged, now is the best time for investors to start looking for stocks that can outperform in the long-term and offer terrific dividends in the process…

Five Top 5G Stocks to Buy That Are Completely Under the Radar

Investors instead would be better served in looking a bit deeper to the companies those carriers will need to pay in order to deploy their 5G technology. These are the companies that own the cell towers and data centers crucial to mobile networking.

These companies will milk maximum profits from the transition to 5G...

Lock in Lifetime Income with Three Unexpected Choices

John A. was ready to call it a day and head off into the proverbial sunset in early 2009. Like many retirees, he was eager to live the life of his dreams.

Only, the timing couldn't have been worse.

The stock market tanked in 2008 and continued to drop precipitously into early March. John's financial planner had all but conveniently disappeared, and John found all the red in his brokerage statements deeply disturbing. He recalls some of his stocks "dropping by more than 50%."

Yet, John stuck to it.

In fact, he stayed "in to win" – something we talk about frequently.

I asked him why he'd decided to hold his positions at a time when other investors were bailing out as fast as they could. He said it was simply because he'd invested in high-income companies that made products and services the world had to have, which reflected solid management acumen, and mirrored his vision of the future.

All of which ought to sound very familiar considering those are the exact principles around which Total Wealth is built and why we take the approach we do.

Here's how you can get started investing like John...
