Can the Dow Jones Today Recover from North Korea's Threats?

By , Executive Producer, Money Morning

The Dow Jones today is flat in premarket hours after North Korea claimed the United States had declared war on the country yesterday...

The Dow fell more than 50 points yesterday thanks to more saber rattling from North Korea. The North Korean foreign minister said the country is considering shooting down U.S. military jets that fly near its airspace. The Dow has recovered from earlier threats from North Korea, but rising tensions could raise volatility.

Here are the numbers from Monday for the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq:

Index Previous Close Point Change Percentage Change
Dow Jones 22,296.09 -53.5 -0.24%
S&P 500 2,496.66 -5.56 -0.22%
Nasdaq 6,370.59 -56.33 -0.88%
