During his first presidential bid in 2008, Huckabee had assets worth at least $700,000. This included his retirement benefits from his former occupation as a Southern Baptist minister, according to The New York Times on May 17, 2007. Huckabee formally announced his bid for the 2016 presidential race on May 5, 2015. (He skipped the 2012 race because, according to a May 14, 2011, article in The New York Times, "his heart wasn't in it.") Not long after, his super PAC, "Pursuing American's Greatness," gathered up $3.6 million in funds to its name. Most of that loot came from one donor, reported Politico on July 31 - a Mr. Ronald Cameron, the CEO of chicken products producer Mountaire Corp. Cameron's $3 million donation made up roughly 85% of the super PAC's total haul.
