Dow Jones Drops 100 Points as Investors Prep for Worst Jobs Report in a Decade

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost more than 100 points out the gate this morning, investors preparing for higher unemployment levels in the United States.

Yesterday, the Labor Department said that more than 6.3 million people applied for unemployment benefits.

Today, the official jobs report was off in terms of reality.

The official rate jumped from 3.5% to 4.4%.

However, private reports suggest that the real rate is somewhere north of 10%.

Even a Global Crisis Can't Keep These Companies from Growing

You don't need to be an expert – or a trader – to see that publicly traded companies are being pummeled right now.

That's one reason right now could be a better time than ever to consider adding private equity to your portfolio of assets.

While private companies aren't completely immune to the impacts of the virus, many of them are built to survive a crisis.

All startups share a certain set of qualities that make them better-equipped to weather this storm than many publicly traded goliaths. During uncertain times, a tiny business just starting out has an upper hand because it's better prepared for loss and hardship than the bigger, more established companies. And it also doesn't have a lot on the line (yet) to lose.

So if you've been thinking about getting into startups for a while and didn't know how or when to get in, this could be the perfect chance to set yourself up for a lifetime of wealth.

Dow Jones Industrial Average Plunges Again Thursday After Trump Announces Travel Ban

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down another 1,500 points on Thursday morning as it continues to plunge into a Bear Market.

The core action – banning travel between the U.S. and Europe for 30 days – pummeled the European markets overnight.

Why I Had to Lose Three Jobs to Finally Get Rich

My first "real job" was an analyst at a bank… and I remember the day I got fired like it was yesterday.

It was so boring I would literally fall asleep at my desk in the middle of the day. So they decided to give my job to someone else.

My second "real job" wasn't any better. I sat in a cubicle looking at endless spreadsheets all day for CVS-Caremark, where my boss was some corporate stuffed shirt, always in my face.

I was absolutely hating life – it got so bad I could barely sleep at night.

Not that I had much to get up for every day; my pay was peanuts, too. My salary was only $45,000 a year – around $500 a week after taxes. It was barely enough to afford a decent car, let alone an apartment in Chicago.

So I had to move back in with my parents just to make ends meet. It was so embarrassing, but what else could I do? It was right after 9/11; there was a recession on, good jobs were scarce, and I needed the money.

So I went to work every day, and did my best to stay awake. But I hated every minute of it.

Time for another change. I didn't know it at the time, but this one would be big – really big.

It didn't quite start out that way, but it opened up the door to incredible, life-changing wealth (and more fun than ought to be legal)… Full Story
