Apple TV (Nasdaq: AAPL) Will Be Huge in 2014 - But Not Because of Comcast

Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) will indeed make a big splash with Apple TV this year, but don't look for clues in the talks the tech giant is supposed to be having with Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA).

Apple TVTech analysts and pundits have been beside themselves since Sunday when The Wall Street Journal revealed that Apple and Comcast were negotiating some sort of deal that would keep Apple's streaming video separated from other Internet traffic, ensuring a smooth user experience.

The Huge Economic Indicator Everyone Misses

If you like bull markets, you better hope Janet Yellen is one of the most talkative Fed Chairs in history.

It's not that she's going to say anything brilliant or insightful, just that she says something… anything… on a regular basis.

You see, there's a direct relationship between how much she says and what's happening in the markets. What she says is almost completely irrelevant.

I know people spend hours agonizing over the slightest nuances in each statement, but really none of those things matters.

Unless you are a policy wonk, Fed statements are pretty consistently useless pontifications made every 6 to 8 weeks by the head of a supposedly independent financial body that is, in fact, a highly politicized entity.

The Fed exercises little if any control over variables and targets that it changes at will and deems relevant at its sole discretion.

Harsh? You bet. But not without merit…

Investing in Silver: Singapore Supplier Opens Vault on Soaring Demand

Amid frenzied demand to buy and store silver, a Singapore retail supplier of coins and bars opened a new 600-metric-ton vault on Monday.

The sizable Silver Bullion Pte. Ltd. storage facility can hold some $390 million worth of silver (at Friday's prices of $20.33 per ounce). Known as The Safe House, the new facility is located west of Changi International Airport. At present, it keeps some 37 tons of silver, mostly for its retail clients, behind a secure 2.5-ton stainless door.
